DIY Repair Education

Bikechain offers the tools and knowledge to support you in maintaining and repairing your own bike. No experience is required!

Bring in your bike and experienced mechanics or volunteers will help diagnose issues and teach you how to fix them.

Our space is open Monday to Friday, and is drop-in only.

Frequently Asked Questions:

I don’t know anything about bikes. Do I need experience?

No experience required! A trained mechanic will be onsite to help diagnose issues and show you how to fix them. The only difference is that you’ll be the one turning the wrench.

Nope! We provide all the tools. We have the appropriate equipment required for most bicycle repairs.

Not required! You can buy used or new parts from us to complete your repairs, including tires, tubes, hardware, and more.

However, if you prefer, you can also bring your own parts and install them at Bikechain.

It’s pay-what-you-can for the help you receive, plus parts.

Used parts are available by donation. New parts have a set cost (for example, a new tube is $8).

No! Currently, DIY repairs are drop-in only. In the busy season, you might have to wait for your turn. If you want to avoid waiting, our least busy time is first thing in the morning.

Sorry, we cannot! There are lots of regular bike shops in Toronto where you can pay to have someone else fix your bike. We do things a little differently at Bikechain, and never repair your bike for you.
