Bike Lending FAQs
When can I borrow a bike? Our lending days are anytime we’re open.
How long will I get the bike? We lend bikes for up to two weeks. After 1 week, you must return to Bikechain to renew the bike for a second week.
How many times can I rent a bike? After you’ve had the rental bike for 2 weeks, you will have a 1 week “cool down” period before you can rent it again, so other students can have a turn. After your cool down period, you can repeat this process as many times as you like. There’s no limit to the number of times you can rent a bike.
Does it come with a lock and lights? Yes! We provide a lock and lights. Please don’t lose them.
Does it come with a helmet? No. For safety and hygiene reasons, we do not lend out helmets. However, we highly recommend wearing one. You can buy a helmet at Bikechain.
Where are the brakes? Our lending bikes all use coaster or pedal brakes. You engage the brake by pedalling backwards. This is similar to the bikes many people rode as children. These help us keep repairs to a minimum, which helps keeps more bikes on the road in our lending program.
Can non-U of T students borrow bikes? Unfortunately, bike lending is only offered to current U of T students as this program is supported by the student union.
Can I pay my deposit with debit or credit? Unfortunately no. We only accept deposits as cash.
